Norwegian and Sami traditional music is performed in a modern soundscape where intense grooves are mixed with joik, vocal riffs and goat horn! B\u00e1rut is relentlessly inclusive and thinks that all cultural expressions can talk together; With goat horn, kudu horn and didgeridoo at the front, B\u00e1rut presents Norway's rawest line of brass instruments! This is ancient music with nerve! <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

S<\/span><\/b>eptember 2023<\/b> slipper B\u00e1rut sitt andre album \u00abMin Arbi – Our Heritage\u00bb (V\u00e5r arv), 12 \u00e5r etter debutalbumet \u00abBalggis\u00bb. Det er egentlig et kort tidsspenn! Joik er ofte beskrevet som en av Europas eldste vokaltradisjoner. Da tar man den tiden en trenger p\u00e5 \u00e5 lage en utgivelse. Bandet ble tildelt Spellemannprisen for \u00abBalggis\u00bb<\/a> in \"Open class\" 2012. The joiker Inga Juuso<\/strong> fronted the band on the album, but passed away in August 2014. B\u00e1rut has received permission from her descendants to use recordings of Inga, and she features on three songs.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Kajsa Balto<\/b> is a guest yoiker on the album's title track, \"Min Arbi\", and does an excellent duet together with Inga. Hildegunn \u00d8iseth<\/b> is known for his personal expression on the horn from a Norwegian goat. She also plays the trumpet, duduk and kudu horn (from an African antelope), which is honored with the song \"Kudukauk\". Audun Eriksen<\/b> is best known for his skills on the didgeridoo. He also builds his own wind instruments, which range from digeridoos in precious wood to flutes made of water pipes from the local plumbing shop in Brekstad! Bassist Svein Schultz<\/b> has played with Mari Boine for many years and produced a large number of album releases. Percussionist and composer Martin Smidt<\/b> has performed in a number of band and ensemble projects, as well as cross-artistic projects in collaboration with theatre, dance, video\/film and visual arts. The leader of the band Asbj\u00f8rn Berson<\/b> (joik, vocals and guitar) has, in addition to B\u00e1rut, been involved in various ensembles within jazz and world music, and toured for several years for Kulturtanken\/Rikskonsertene. <\/span><\/p>\n

The album is produced by Frode Fjellheim<\/b>. He has been a central player in the pressentation and revitalization of the Sami cultural heritage through his own work as a composer, and in close collaboration with Sami artists. In 2013, the whole world was exposed to the Sami musical tradition and Fjellheim's music in the Disney film Frost.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
