About the study

The study offers specialization in either Rhythmic choral conducting or Yoik in choir and ensemble.

With specialization Rhythmic choral conducting:

The course is aimed at choir directors, teachers in primary schools, cultural schools and secondary education, musicians and other interested parties.

The teaching will be held in 6 sessions of 3 days including the exam. For those who choose to specialize in rhythmic choral conducting, there will also be regular digital meetings with the teacher individually or in groups between the sessions.

Rhythmic Choir Conducting collaborates with the subject Joik in choir and ensemble, to learn how to work with yoik composed or arranged for choir.

With specialization Yoik in choir and ensemble:

The course is aimed at choir leaders, other ensemble leaders, teachers, musicians and other interested parties.

The teaching will be held in 7 sessions including the exam. 6 sessions of 3 days together with Rhythmic choral conducting as well as a session of 2 days together with the subject With Yoik as a Starting Point. All at Campus Røstad, Levanger. In addition, there will be some individual supervision of tasks in arranging yoik for different ensembles.

As a music student in Levanger, you will be part of a lively and active music environment consisting of around 140 students. You will also have good access to practice rooms and technical equipment. In addition, there is a separate, student-run club scene on campus; Røstad Scene. This is a good arena for students who want to perform music or who want to learn more about the technical aspects, such as sound and lighting.

The course requires you to have a basic music education.
