«Med joik som utgangspunkt» på Nord universitet 2018-19 er et studium utviklet av Frode Fjellheim og kanskje det eneste høgskolestudiet i verden der studentene får jobbe med joik som utgangspunkt for å skape ny musikk.
At the bottom of this is a solid introduction to yoik as a musical expression - and a basic introduction to Sami culture. Students can create their own yoiks, use elements from traditional yoik in new contexts and learn how Europe's oldest living music tradition can give you new musical ideas for your own music. the only university program in the world where students get to work with yoik as a starting point for creating new music.
Transjoik 20 years anniversary!
Transjoik celebrates 20 years anniversary of the release of the first CD under the name Transjoik!
They mark this with an anniversary tour; Levanger November 7th, Tromsø November 8th, Bodø November 9th, Tromdheim November 10th and Oslo November 11. The tour is supported by the Norwegian Cultural Council, the Foud for Performing Artists and the Sami Parliament.

She has performed for the King of Norway, toured in Japan, contributed to large TV-productions, collaborated with The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Mari Boine, Kirsten Bråten Berg, Ronnie Le Tekrø – just to name a few.
Katarina Barruk med sitt første album på Vuelie i september
Artisten Katarina Barruk har allerede rukket å markere seg som en fantastisk artist innen det samiske musikkmiljøet i Norden. Hun skriver egne tekster på umesamisk og komponerer musikk i et skjæringspunkt mellom «singer/songwriter-sjangeren», pop og rock. Samtidig er den samiske inflytelsen fra joiken alltid tilstede! Hun har nå jobbet sammen med arrangør og produsent Frode Fjellheim siden i høst og er nå nesten ferdig med debutalbumet!
I programmet «Ardna» på NRK 2 kan du møte henne, og høre en smakebit fra arbeidet med det kommende albumet!
Aejlies Eatneme! Aejlies Baakoe premiere
During Sami church days in Mo i Rana, Frode Fjellheim's work "Aejlies Eatneme! Aejlies Baakoe" is premiered!
The work is a commissioned work for the days, and is composed based on the theme for the days «Holy Earth! - Holy word.
Texts taken from Exodus, the poet Rumi and Songs from the indigenous peoples of North America Naabeehó and nêhiyawin (Navajo and Cree)
The work will be premiered on Friday August 9th 2013 in the large lavvu that has been set up for the festival.
