GUEST OF THE WEEK
"I fill most of the day with music"
The yoiker and musician, Frode Fjellheim, with his own band Transjoik can be seen in many places, now he also visits Rádio Sápmi. In the late 70's he had great success in Kárasjokk and northern Norway with his rock band, after that he went on to the music conservatory and is today a full-time musician and composer. From the beginning, others in the band were allowed to yoke and sing, but today he yokes himself and also teaches others how to yoik.

Ulla Pirttijärvi has for many years been regarded as one of the foremost performers in Sami music. Her CD releases in collaboration with Frode Fjellheim have attracted attention both here in the Nordics and around the world. They have toured in Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan and garnered praise for music that hits people - regardless of language, cultural background and genre preferences. Through this book, you get the opportunity to perform Ulla's music - in your own way. And at the same time help to expose Sami music in new surroundings.
